S.O.S.

How do you eat a strawberry shortcake? Do you start with the strawberry or do you eat it last because it’s the best part?
Strawberry On the Shortcake (S.O.S.) – Jdrama (10episodes)
A roller coaster of unrequited love and foolish sacrifices people go through, that would leave viewers thinking “that’s so high school”! Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, although the obsession with ABBA music by the people behind this drama seemed all too weird for me. I couldn’t help but laugh when I heard the opening song…. I’m sure most people will…. “Chiquitita”… yes ladies and gentlemen… that same song the show tropang trumpo spoofed with the “Mikey Cojuangco” line in it…. Yes… laugh it of… you know you want to. Ok, now stop.

Seriously now… I hate to admit it, but I cried a few times. I guess it’s a very universal theme… “you love her but she loves someone else”. And just to make things extra dramatic and excruciatingly painful, you have to help her be with someone else, simply because that would make her happier…sadly enough, that’s all that matters. Fools! (yes, im bitter! :) ) It makes me want to shout at the screen…”Oh why don’t you just kick him in the balls!”
Rain and piano, that’s all you need to make me cry (and perhaps much less). Imagine this, it’s raining heavily, and the lead girl is outside the school building. She is watching the other guy play the piano. Suddenly, you realize why she isn’t getting wet…. Camera pans out, you see the lead guy holding an umbrella out for her, watching her fall miserably in love with this other guy. Now insert a melodramatic piano piece here that the other guy is playing. Apparently, the other guy is also grieving over someone else. It is perhaps the longest chain of unrequited love I’ve ever seen. I think it totals to 5 people loving someone else, who loves someone else.
I don’t eat strawberries, but assuming I do… on strawberry shortcake, I will eat it last, because it is the best part. I save the best for last.

And that is why I cannot forget you…
