Aha! So the world loves me afterall...

On my way home after watching the amazing play, "The Vagina Monologues" with Roel (details to be blogged later), I realized I will be passing by several malls. And you know what that means... "Ring the church bells, light your torches, and carry your pitchforks, villagers! We're going shoe-hunting!"

I am dead set and fully committed to finding my red rubber shoes! I want it, and by all means, I'm gonna run soon wearing it!

I did a quick round-up of the shoe stores I know around Orchard Road(yes, as in the street full of malls), but still, it was not there. But still keeping my head held up high, I rode the train to my next destination. After a few more MRT stations, I stopped by Ang Mo Kio's AMK Hub.

By this time, my feet was already killing me. As this was an unplanned shopping trip, I wasn't wearing comfortable shoes. In fact, I was wearing boots with 2-inch heels. Shopping while even in heels? Now that's what I call commitment to a cause! (and what some others would call "stupidity" and "foot-murder")

But in spite of all the chivalric sacrifices, (and the possible future varicose veins I'll be getting out of this) the red Reebok crosstrainer is still nowhere to be found...

But as if life was teaching me a lesson on "everything happens for a reason", while on my way out of one of the stores in AMK hub, something caught my eyes and suddenly, everything was in slow-motion:

[enter Roberta Flack's sultry voice] The first time, ever I saw your face, I thought the sun rose in your eyes...

There it was, sitting oh-so-pretty in the "featured shoe" section... Nike's RED Free Dynamic TR Trainer 7.0 II Presto MD (who knew shoes have names this long??)

Given my past failures (since my feet is too freakin' small!!!) I was quite skeptic about this. I asked the salesguy if they have my size. After checking their stocks, he handed me the smallest pair of shoes he got from storage. I tried both on, and walked around the store. It felt good... (probably because my feet was already aching from my boots!)

After a few rounds of walking, without much fanfare, I told him I'll get it. This, I think surprised the both of us. Me, because I don't even know the price yet, and him, because no woman decides THAT fast!

(pictures snatched from another website I forgot, I'm too tired to take pictures of my own...sorry)

Yes, it's blaring red. So what?!

I'm happy...

Lack of common courtesy just saddens me...

I went to Subway today to have lunch before going to the National Library to watch a play. As usual, there were a lot of people eating, but I was fortunate enough to share a table with a stranger.

While having my all-time favorite Vege-delight sandwich (minus the olives), I noticed an Indian couple looking around for a place to seat. Thing is, all of the people seated in their places were still eating. All, except for two people sitting in one table.

There was a four-seater table which was being monopolized by these two. What's worse was they have obviously finished eating for quite some time now. They've even finished up their big-ass jumbo drink! They just sat there, chit-chatting like no one's business.

For a good 10 minutes, the chit-chatty couple just sat there while the Indian couple just stood, probably frustrated that they can't eat their now not-so-hot-anymore Subway sandwiches. Until finally, some other table cleared up, and they're finally able to eat.

How freakin' sad is that?!

I know there are a lot of people who hate it when some other people are standing near them, waiting for their table WHILE they are still eating. I'm in fact, one of them. I don't appreciate being watched while I eat, waiting to see if they can now get my table. I paid to eat here as well, so let me finish my meal!

But if you're already VERY through eating and you know for a fact that some other hungry person needs your table, for the love of all things good, move your ass off the chair and let these people eat!

You know what's even more sad? As I passed by the chit-chatty couple's table on my way out (yes, I've finished eating but they're still there), I heard them talking. This is when I discovered that they were Pinoys!

Tsk...tsk... I was always under the impression, and in fact proud, that our Filipino culture has always been innately courteous... I guess it's not always the case...

Sad, just sad.

Why do you hate me, world?

I've mentioned in a previous post that I was eyeing a pair of red crosstrainers from Reebok. After much internal debate and introspection, I've finally made up my mind. I'll buy it. So screw you world! Judge me all you want, but still I'm wearing red shoes! (jeez, why am I so angry? hehehe...)
So I went to the mall last Wednesday, since it was a holiday (and what better way to spend holidays than shopping for shoes? :) )
I went into the store where I initially saw the shoes. Much to my surprise, it's no longer in display. I asked the salesguy if they still have the shoes I was looking for. He gave me this really weird look as if I was asking if they were selling unicorns.
So fine. I opted to just look for other options. After looking around the store, I managed to select a few shoes I really liked. But guess what, they're all from the men's section, and thus no size smaller than 7?!
As I am the type of person who really does not give up, especially in the name of good shoes, I looked around other stores, but still ended up with the same dilemma.
Persistence is key, so I checked out other malls. Not 1, not 2, but 4?! Can you believe it? Who's psychotic enough to do this for shoes?! But unfortunately, my craziness did not reap fruits (when has it ever??). It's still the same problem over and over again.
So here's my beef, people:
1. How come all the cool designs are in the men's section?
2. How come there are no size 6 in the men's section. I'm pretty sure there are men out there that have small feet (although I'm not so sure if they're willing to admit that... if you know what I mean...**wink **wink)
3, How come I don't have big feet?!!

Tell me world, why?! Why don't you want me to have good shoes?!
(and again, why am I talking to the world?)

Did I hear anyone mention big feet and red shoes?

Yeah, even a f*ing creepy clown is mocking me...
Why world? Why?!?!

Sushi anyone?

Last night, I decided to make something different. Since I am a big fan of Japanese food, I decided to make sushi for myself. :)

Here are my ingredients:
1. Nori

2. Fillings: Cucumber, Scrambled Egg(w/ soy milk), Mock Crab

3. Sushi Rice. You may get the info on how to make it in youtube. (what else can't you find in youtube??)

After painstakingly wrapping the sushi, here's the final product:

Tabemasho!

"siguro..."

that word made my day! :)

Take that Ronald McD!

Still basking in my glorious victory over last night's dinner experiment, I decided to cook lunch today. Since I was craving for Egg McMuffins the other day, I opted to make my own version.

So I bought a pancake mix, low fat butter(oxymoron?), and some eggs.

I won't go into details on how pancakes are cooked... Even little kids know how to do that. And I'm betting some kids are actually better at it than me!
So after messing up the kitchen, this is the end product:

The one on the left is not a pancake, it's actually a sunny-side-up egg... Hey! Don't judge my egg!!! I flipped the egg several times to make sure the yolk was cooked and not the liquidy-type, so that I'd be able to get that Egg-McMuffin effect.

The final product:

My potty-mouthed pancake w/egg VS. Ronald McDonald's Egg McMuffin

How did it taste like? Hmmnn... Ano nga ulit number ng McDonald's delivery???

Success!!!

After several attempts at cooking, I have finally concocted something I would really eat in real life!!! :)

First, let me show you my previous attempts:

Vege-meat Mechado. Thank God I was really hungry that lunch time, otherwise, I would not have eaten this.

Mixed vege with scrambled eggs and low-calorie crackers. I undercooked the vegetables... I now know what herbivore animals feel when eating... and it's NOT good.

So basically lunchtime for me was self-inflicted torture. I'm actually beginning to think I subconsciously hate myself. Why me, why are you doing this to me???

But last night, I decided to cook dinner. Not wanting to eat rice, I decided to experiment with noodles. So scrapping our fridge for anything that can go together in a dish, this is what I got:

Ingredients:
1 pc vege-meat sausage, sliced
2 pc vege-meat squid, sliced
1 tablespoon vegetarian tom yum paste
2 baby carrots, sliced
shredded chinese cabbage
minced onion
minced garlic
bean vermicelli noodles
1/2 cup water

Instructions:
Soak the noodles in water for 10minutes. Stir-fry the garlic, onion, carrots. Add the vegemeat. Once the onion is nearly translucent, add the noodles. Stir and constantly add the water to make sure the noodles does not stick to the pan. Add the chinese cabbage. Add the tom yum paste. Stir until the paste is fully integrated in the mix. If everything seems to look like they're cooked (my only basis... hehehe..) stop the stove.

And walla... this is what I got:

It may not look good in this picture, but damn! It was AWESOME!!!

Sorry for doubting you, me. I now know how much you love me, me.

Dinner was f*ing awesome!!!

Adik sayo... :)

I had dinner with my office buddies last night at Fish and Co. in Penang Road. There was a live band who was singing some English songs. Much to my surprise, after a few songs, they sang Rivermaya's You'll Be Safe Here. Cool... Sikat pala sya dito. (although parang ang tagal na nitong kanta)

Wala lang, just thought I'd mention. :)
Nag-iisip lang ako ng reason para mag-post ng Rivermaya lyrics... hehehe :)

Hinahanap-hanap Kita
by Rivermaya

Adik sayo
awit sa akin
nilang sawa na sa ting
mga kwentong marathon

tungkol sayo
at sa ligayang
iyong hatid
sa aking buhay
tuloy ang hanap ng isipan koy ikaw

chorus
sa umaga sa gabi sa
bawat minutong lumilipas
hinahanap-hanap kita
hinahanap-hanap kita
sa isip at panaginip
bawat pagpihit ng tadhana
hinahanap-hanap kita
hinahanap-hanap kita

sabik sayo
kahit maghapon
na tayoy magkasama
parang telesine
ang ating ending
hatid sa bahay nyo
sabay goodnight
sabay may kiss
sabay bye-bye

chorus
pilit ko mang ikay limutin
lagi kong natatagpuan
ang iyong tinig at awitin
twing sasapit ang ulan
mga linggo pang pinagsamahan
para bang nalimot na
ng yong pusong biglang lumisan
may kapiling ng iba

chorus
sa skul sa flag cerem
hanggang uwian araw-araw
hinahanap-hanap kita
hinahanap-hanap kita
at kahit na magkaanak kayot
magkatuluyan balang araw hinahanap-hanap kita
hinahanap-hanap kita

It's a girl!

My brother's wife just gave birth to a pretty little girl!

Balita ko kamukha ko daw, so I'm guessing that's a good thing! (but then again lahat naman ng babies magkakamukha pag bagong panganak...) nyahahaha...

Ito nga lang ang masaklap.... ka-birthday ni Jas! tsk...tsk... (joke lang Jas!!!)

Baka next year pa sila umuwi ng Pinas from Canada, so hopefully, by that time, maka-uwi din ako para makita ko ang pang-5 kong pamangkin... Grabe, ang dami na ng magmamano sa akin!

I'm old!!!

mukha na ba akong baliw?

Bigla na lang akong nangingiti minsan habang nakaupo sa harap ng laptop ko...
Baliw na ata ako... :) (what's new?)

I can't seem to wipe the smile off my face until now...

Uy! Sandwich!

As I was walking towards the MRT station after alighting our company shuttle, I heard steps from someone running behind me. Before I knew it, the person was already beside me and tapped me on the shoulder. It was a girl that somehow looked awfully familiar but I can't quite remember from where.

Cute girl: kilala mo pa ako?

Me: (Oh, boy... I'm so afraid you asked...) Hmmmn... Teka! Taga-NSP ka dati?!

Cute girl: yup!

Me: (Magpapakatotoo na ako...) ano ulit name mo?

Cute girl: Mona...

Me: Ah! Yung Sandwich?! (a moment to contemplate how stupid I sounded saying that...)

Me: Ah..er...madalas kong pilahan yung sandwich mo dati nung nag-Cebu kami...

Cute girl: Ah? talaga? (probably weirded out by the fact that sandwiches brought more smile to my eyes than remembering her...)

Yes, Mona, the girl with kick-ass sandwiches is the latest addition to our growing ex-nsp family here. She just started last week.

I wonder if she'll be selling sandwiches in our office too...
Hmmmnn... sandwich..... (drool...)

out of the closet...and into the runway...

I have a confession to make, and it's not easy for me to say this, but I'll say it anyway.

I'm a closet ANTM fan...
(America's Next Top Model)

Ok, I'll give you a few minutes to collect your jaw from the floor...
I know... I know, "How could I?!" It is soooo out-of-character.

I don't know, but there's something about stick-figured women bitchin' about each other that makes me so effin' entertained. It's my guilty pleasure...

And why this sudden confession? I just can't help it. I need to flush out all the excitement out of my system and I have no one to talk to... Why the excitement, you ask? Because a few days back, cycle 11 has just started!!!! Whoooo hooo...

Let the carnage begin baby, let the carnage begin...

This cycle is probably the most diverse one ever. ANTM has been known to accept women from different ethnic backgrounds and economic classes. They've had white/black/brown and every skin color in between, mothers, a Yale student, some full-figured women, a girl with some form of Autism, an exotic dancer, a hooters girl, a girl who waxes people's hoo-ha's... name it, they've had it... (ok, they've never had doctors or lawyers... but those professions are just too boring to get included...)

But what makes this cycle so groundbreaking is that it is the first time that they have included a transgendered contestant into the competition. Her name is Isis, and I must say, she is one hot dude...

But given that this is a reality show featuring women, bitchiness ensues once some of the girls found out that one of them is not biologically the "same".

I hope and pray that those mean bitchy girls lose... (yes, I waste precious prayer-time for these things... that and world peace) And as we've seen in past ANTM cycles, the bitchy ones stay for quite some time to keep us entertained, but in the end they never really win...Yes, Karma, it's real, and I have ANTM to prove it!

This cycle, I'm rooting for Sheena, the half-Japanese, half-Korean (I wonder how her parents got along?) hottie from New York, not just because she's Asian, but because she's actually very nice and sweet and has a good head on her shoulders. And so far, she's showing that she can be a great model. Plus it doesn't hurt that she's smouldering hot...

My other bet is Elina. She's vegan, an animal right's activist, has tattooes, doesn't wear skirts or anything that is gender-specific, and only wears black...

If your gaydars alarmed a flashing red light with that statement, then congratulations! You're right. She is this cycle's token "bisexual". The quotes are there because she really didn't say it directly when Tyra asked her. But her long "I am not into labels" type of answer essentially meant that she's good to go with any gender.

Why am I rooting for her? Dude, she got me at vegan and animal's right activist. She also has this Angelina Jolie-thing going on, especially on her latest photoshoot. She's a little too intense though, almost kinda scary...

I can't wait for next week to come... It's the make-over episode! We all know what that means... ginormous amounts of hair products, bald women, mohawks, and a whole lot of drama...

It will be fierce! :)

It feels like Christmas, perhaps even better!

So I was all set in marking this day as one of those ho-hum days that will not be remembered and will definitely not be part of my future auto-biographical masterpiece...

But just as I was to go to close my eyes to sleep, I got a text message from my brother's girlfriend:

"Nasabi ba sayo ng kuya mo, may package ka from us. Iwan ko sa sofa, ah?"
(Did your big brother tell you, you have a package from us. I'll leave it in the sofa, ok?)

Yes, she texted me even though we live in the same place... hehehe (perhaps she thought I was already sleeping)

I initially thought she said the package was "from them" (as in "from us"). Then I wondered, why would they get me something? It's not my birthday?! And why would they call it "package"?

I dismissed the idea of getting up from bed to figure out what it's all about. (Yes, I am THIS LAZY) But then finally, oxygenated blood found it's way to my brain and bam! Eureka! She meant package from U.S. (as in United States of America). Why am I such a dummy?!?!

And as I do not remember ordering any mail-order bride from the U.S., it can only mean one thing...

My Uh Huh Her CD is here!!!!

I threw-out my blanket and jumped out of my bed. I may have injured the "pinky" of my right foot (what the hell is it called anyway?) in the process. But it didn't matter... screw the little bastard, I have 4 more in that foot anyway, and they're bigger!

Here's the package...

I hurriedly opened the CD case to make sure there really is something inside... (it's the skeptic in me...)

So here I am... at 1:00AM, listening to the CD (making sure it's the real thing! hehehe... )

Damn... it's soooooo gooooood!!!

I know it's too early in my life to say this, but this has got to be the BEST album I have ever heard EVER...

I love myself for buying this for me... I love you, me. You're the best! (could any statement be so narcissistic? :) )

gangway! gangway! mad woman in the kitchen!

Because I firmly believe that a large part of my unhealthy state is caused by the fact that I eat a lot of crap, I attempted to make my own food (not in a photosynthesis kind of way...)

This marks my farewell to the oily and MSG-laden food in our local hawker centers.

--------

Since I wake-up pretty late, I've decided it's best to prepare my meals the night before I'm supposed to eat them.

So here's tomorrow's menu:

Tomorrow's breakfast (168 Cal):
2 slices high fiber white bread= 137Cal
Kaya spread (less than 10g) = 31Cal

I'll also have the same thing for snacks in the afternoon (168 Cal):

And for lunch(200Cal)...
may I present my first kitchen masterpiece in SG:
It's basically left over rice, all the decent vege's we have left-over in the fridge, and some vegetarian stuff I picked up in the grocery the other day.

1/2 cup of steamed rice = 103Cal
1/4 of a small onion = 4Cal
1/2 of a small tomato = 4Cal
4 stripes of bell pepper = 2Cal
1 vegetarian sausage = 59Cal
50 grams tofu = 28Cal

Cook the tofu and vegetarian sausage. Use a non-stick pan and use very little cooking oil.
Once cooked, add in the vege's and stir-fry of about less than 5 minutes. Use low heat.

After that, what we have is:

the abomination that is called tomorrow's lunch. Well, I have to start somewhere, right? Hopefully I'll get better with this cooking thing.

Total Calories before dinner:
Breakfast = 168
Lunch = 200
Snacks = 168
TOTAL = 536Cal

Dinner is still up in the air, but it will probably include some fruits...
good luck to me then!

Bon appetit!

drastic times...

I am unhealthy. I think I've known this for the longest time, but these past few days have been a real eye-opener for me.

I've tried in the past to live a healthy life, but my "lifestyle" just doesn't cut it. And now I need to pay the price.

I've gained weight and reduced my muscle mass in a span of less than a year. According to the doctor I've consulted, that kind of weight-gain is too drastic and in fact dangerous. In addition to that is the fact that I have high-blood pressure! Great! Just great! [insert sarcasm here]

I see red

I'm beginning to appreciate the color red lately. I have no idea why, but I'm just so drawn to red-colored items these past few days, which is weird, since I never really liked red.

I'm more of a "blue person". But now, when I see blue, I find myself sort of bored with it.

Like the other day, I was ogling over a pair of red Reebok cross-trainers. I want it real bad! Thing is, none of my current clothes would match it(Unless I have plans to be a walking Philippine flag).

Red shoes... I know! It is so not me. I used to think that the only acceptable reasons for anyone to wear red shoes are:

1. you are aged 5 and below, and
2. you're a hooker.

Given that I am neither (although #1 is highly debatable), I am finding my behavior lately pretty strange.

I was also eying a red wallet in the Wallet Shop the other day. (yes, there is a store here that only sells wallets. It puzzles me how the people who own this establishment can eat on a regular basis... I mean how many wallet does a person buy in his lifetime???)

Am I changing into a totally different person?! This is just too drastic, I think... Blue to Red?!? It's like listening to Mozart and then shifting to Cher...

Is this a sign of a quarter-life crisis? What's next, premature hair-loss??? What's wrong with me? (and again, why am I irrationally panicking?!)

But you know what, I'd really be disturbed if I start liking PINK?! Oh my, I bet the apocalypse is just around the corner by that time...

------------------------

p.s. I should stop window shopping. It is obviously not good for my health...

p.p.s. I changed my mind, I still want to window shop.

p.p.p.s. Get used to it. I may not look like it, but I'm a woman, damn it!

Could the day be any faster than a pregnant snail on anti-depressants?

It's Friday and time is crawling miserably here in the office... ang tagal ng 5:30!!!

I've managed to close all the tickets assigned to me this morning, so now I need to pretend like I'm actually doing something people here pay me for.... "Must.Look.Busy... Must.Look.Busy..."

Sabi na nga ba, dapat nag-work-from-home na lang ako!!! :(

Out of 7 people in our team, only 3 of us went to the office today. 2 are on vacation (including my manager), 1 is overseas, 1 is working from home.

I came in at 10:20am. By our team's standards, I came in at just the right time. Actually, nauna pa nga akong nakarating sa office kesa dun sa 2 kong teammates!

Nabasa ko na lahat ng blogs na I'm subscribed to... Pati WikiHow pinatulan ko na din. Today's how-to: How to eat durian. Yes, pathetic indeed.

Hay... Magbabasa na lang ako ng manual...

Oo, sya nga... (Yes, it's her)

... or more accurately, "Uh Huh Her". (get it? get it?)

What the hell am I talking about again, I hear you ask? I'm talking about my new favorite band: Uh Huh Her

Just how good are they? I just purchased their album online. (that is saying A LOT)

Mind you, I rarely buy anything from the internets... I trust no one, especially if it means divulging my credit card information. I'm neurotic, remember?

I can't wait for my package to arrive!!!

I've listened to some samples of their songs online. (some of them are in my playlist now ->)
So far, my favorite is "Wait Another Day" (ironic no?)

If you're not into techno music, you should be ashamed of yourself, you can listen to the live version in this video...

Wait Another Day

I look at the starlight,
I am shattered by the night
Always run where i can and
I hide where i wanna hide
But it feels so right,
I want it tonight
It feels so right

Oh, i went out of my mind
I am caught here
One more time
I know how it feels tonight
I can do nothing about it
But it feels so right,
I want it tonight
You feel so right

I will wait to love you
I will wait another day
For you i'd leave
All this behind
(oooh)
I will wait for you tonight
I will waste
Another dream on you
Always run to you, run

I will take the long road
But it leads right back to you
Follow you into the sun
I will steal this time for you

But it feels so right
I want it tonight
You feel so right

Oh, i will wait to love you
I will wait another day
For you i'd leave
All this behind
(oooh)
I will wait for you tonight
I will waste
Another dream on you
Always run to you

I will wait to love you
I will wait another day
For you i'd leave
All this behind
(oooh)
I will wait for you tonight
I will waste
Another dream on you
Always run to... you, run

I LOVE PINK... and I don't mean the color...

... I mean Pink the artist, or more accurately "P!nk"
And if you don't, then this might change your mind...

Sing along bitter people! (aren't we all??) :)

So What

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na

I guess i just lost my husband
I don’t know where he went
So i’m gonna drink my money
I’m not gonna pay his rent (Nope)
I got a brand new attitude
And i’m gonna wear it tonight
I wanna get in trouble
I wanna start a fight

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
I wanna start a fight
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
I wanna start a fight

So so what?
I’m still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don’t need you
And guess what
I’m having more fun
And now that we’re done
I’m gonna show you tonight
I’m alright, I’m just fine
And you’re a tool
So so what?
I am a rockstar
I got my rock moves
And i don’t want you tonight

Uh, check my flow, uh

The waiter just checked my table
And gave to Jessica Simp-Shit!
I guess i’ll go sit with Tom boy
At least he’ll know how to hit
What if this song’s on the radio
Then somebody’s gonna die
I’m gonna get in trouble
My ex will start a fight

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
He’s gonna start a fight
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
We’re all gonna get in a fight!

So so what?
I’m still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don’t need you
And guess what
I’m having more fun
And now that we’re done
I’m gonna show you tonight
I’m alright, I’m just fine
And you’re a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don’t want you tonight

You weren’t fair
You never were
You weren’t all
But that’s not fair
I gave you life
I gave my all
You weren’t there
You let me fall

So so what?
I’m still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don’t need you
And guess what
I’m having more fun
And now that we’re done (we’re done)
I’m gonna show you tonight
I’m alright(I’m alright),I’m just fine (I’m just fine)
And you’re a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don’t want you tonight

No No, No No
I Don’t want you tonight
You weren’t fair
I’m gonna show you tonight
I’m alright, I’m just fine
And you’re a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don’t want you tonight

Nothing says I'm CRAZY about you...

... better than Blondie's song, One Way or Another.

You may listen to it on my playlist ->
(watch-out for the great guitars between 1:50-2:14)

The song was released in 1979. Yes, it's ancient. This song is most probably older than you! But how can you not love a song this sweet, in an obsessed stalker-ish kinda way?

Sing-along, won't you?

One way or Another
by Blondie

One way or another I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna win ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna see ya
I'm gonna meetcha meetcha meetcha meetcha
One day, maybe next week
I'm gonna meetcha, I'm gonna meetcha, I'll meetcha
I will drive past your house
And if the lights are all down
I'll see who's around

One way or another I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna win ya
I'll getcha, I'll getcha
One way or another I'm gonna see ya
I'm gonna meetcha meetcha meetcha meetcha
One day, maybe next week
I'm gonna meetcha, I'll meetcha

And if the lights are all out
I'll follow your bus downtown
See who's hanging out

One way or another I'm gonna lose ya
I'm gonna give you the slip, a slip of the lip or another
I'm gonna lose ya, I'm gonna trick ya, I'll trick ya
One way or another I'm gonna lose ya
I'm gonna trick ya trick ya trick ya trick ya
One way or another I'm gonna lose ya
I'm gonna give you the slip

I'll walk down the mall
Stand over by the wall
Where I can see it all
Find out who ya call
Lead you to the supermarket checkout
Some specials and rat food, get lost in the crowd

One way or another I'm gonna getcha, I'll getcha, I'll getcha getcha getcha getcha
(Where I can see it all, find out who ya call)
One way or another I'm gonna getcha, I'll getcha, I'll getcha getcha getcha getcha
(Where I can see it all, find out who ya call)
One way or another I'm gonna getcha, I'll getcha, I'll getcha getcha getcha getcha
(Where I can see it all, find out who ya call)

Oh! c'mon! you've got to be kidding me!?!

In Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, he writes:

“What happens once will never happen again. But what happens twice will surely happen a third time.”

If this really does hold true, it looks like I'll be expecting to see Auntie Security Guard again in the near future.

After my little run-in with the law MRT security officials last week, one would expect that my MRT rides would be smooth-sailing, with the occasional MRT-mate that smells like whale poo (not that I know what whale poo smells like, I just wanted to stay in line with the theme of sailing... get it? get it? smooth-sailing, boats, sea, whale, poo... get it? get it?... No? Sadly, neither do I.)

Going back...

Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Auntie Security Guard stopped me on my tracks to inspect my bag AGAIN?!?!

Really, Auntie?... Really??!?

So in light of recent day's events, I'd like to send Auntie an open letter:

Dear Auntie,

You suck!

Lovelots,
Neni

It's me! (in the cartoon world!)

In case you haven't noticed, I've put up a new avatar:

me being "platey"

I discovered a new "avatar-making" website: faceyourmanga.com
If this is old news for you, then I'm sorry. You're probably one of those cool kids who knows what's happening in the internets. (and you probably don't have a job!)

Does it look like me? Maybe if it ate a few more donuts, it might actually start to look like me... :)

WTF?! = Words That are F***ed-up?!

Who knew that "spoony" is a word? Even the spell-check here in blogger is telling me "what-the-f is that word, bozo?!?" (or at least that what it sounds like in my head when it puts a red underline on the words I'm typing here) MS Word even suggested I use "spooky" instead!

This was my word of the day last week. (yes, I'm subscribed to Dictionary.com, which gives testament to the unsurmountable boredom that is called my life)

I think Dictionary.com just ran out of words so they invented something to send me, me being trusting and all. (read: sucker)

Sometimes there are words which you can guess the definition of based on how you can imagine it's usage. This one, is definitely NOT one of them. Any takes on what "spoony" means? No, it's not "makuchara" or "madaming kuchara". (corny, I know, but admit it, for a second or two, you thought it was!)

Apparently, "spoony" means "foolishly or sentimentally in love"

--> Eeeeh? {must be said as though it's one of the voices in those learn-to-speak-Japanese tapes} I'm as puzzled as you are. (if you're not, then you're a f*ing geek who should join Dictionary.com!) Who invented this word? Hmmnn... probably the same guy who invented "forky"?!

Speaking of dining objects as vocabulary words, "platey" is yet to be defined. So as my contribution to the world (among other things, including my mere presence) I shall create a new word:

"platey" = unbelievably cool; neni-like; rad!
usage: I look absolutely platey today. (redundant? :) )

............

OMG... I know, I need to get a life. (a platey one, I hope!)

If you see any suspicious-looking person...

... that's probably me! Well, atleast for MRT officials!

Apparently, I look suspicious enough for MRT security officials to stop me as I was entering the station! (No, don't worry, I'm not writing this from prison...)

This morning, right after I tapped my ez-link card, a lady security guard approached me and asked if she could inspect the contents of my bag.

As we were walking towards the inspection table, I silently pondered the possible reasons why anyone would think I'm a "suspicious-looking person"

I did a very thorough self-check and asked myself critical questions in those precious few seconds:
- Did I forget to remove my fake moustache? (again?!)... Nope.
- Am I topless? Nope, it's not Wednesday.
- Did my brother taped a "BOMB INSIDE ->" note on my bag (again?! ... oh, wait, it was me who taped it on HIS bag)... Nope, my bag looks pretty decent.
- Am I wearing something "bin laden-esk"... I dunno, say an AK-47?... Nope
- Are my socks matching?... Nope... OMG! could this be it?

I was about to make a run for it, me being psychotic and all, thinking it would be really funny (you know, something to tell the grandkids someday). But I decided against it, since it would require too much effort on my part.

So I opened my bag.

Lady security guard: oh, a laptop eh?
Me: Yes [still thinking of making a run for it, and scream "for Allah!"... but that would mean leaving my bag behind... i have 2 sandwiches there, so no way in hell that would happen!]

Lady security guard: ah, no wonder so big?!
Me: Yes [wondering if she's referring to the bag or to me, since she also saw the sandwiches]

Lady security guard: ok. Thank you.
Me: Ok

I was quite tempted to make a joke about exploding cheese sandwiches, but I doubt she'd find it funny. But hey, atleast that joke won't require me to run!

If you see any suspicious-looking person or article, please inform our staff or press the emergency communication button located at the side of the train door. Thank you...

name that stench!

No, make that 2 weeks. Tapos nun, kunin mo at amuyin!

Ayon, saktong sakto! Yan ang amoy ng katabi ko kanina sa MRT!

bitches, ties, and creepy replies

As I was sitting idly in my humble little cubicle, my seatmate looks at me weirdly and asks:

Seatmate: "Why are you wearing a tie?" {said as though it's not a question, it's more like saying "who the f*ck ate my lunch?!"}

As much as I'd like to give him a good spanking (not in a "fun" way) and give him a lesson on the equality of men and women, the implications and consequences of machismo and chauvinism in modern society, and more importantly Avril Lavigne's claim to fame, I calmed down my inner bitch and pulled out all the humor I can muster out of me and replied:

Me: "Because I caaaan..."
{for full effect, it must be said in the most retarded way possible, which of course I have successfully mastered...}

Seatmate: Oh... ok... {with a ginormous question mark hanging on his head}

{insert fantastically awkward silence, then background noise of keyboard strokes, and then vultures flying overhead...}

After a few minutes, I just realized that my reply was not as funny as it sounded in my head (I need to stop listening to those little voices)...

Looking back, it was actually kinda creepy...

Lesson learned: unleash your inner bitch... it's better to be bitchy than creepy... :)
(Or better yet...eat your seatmate's lunch without him knowing :) )

even my mp3 player is mocking me...

So I'm still here in the SG office, handling an urgent issue in our customer platform in Australia that must be solved by today. It's 1AM, and I'm here in the freakishly cold server room... how sad is that?
And as if Karma has finally found me after all my years of mocking, my mp3 player plays the song "No Sleep Tonight" by The Faders... (It's on my playlist here --->)

... you won't get no sleep tonight...

unfortunately not in a good way...

If this is my fault, then I'm so sorry...

OMG?! Is this my fault? Is my mentioning of him several times in my blog the reason why he's suddenly here?!? Did I inadvertently will this to happen (you know, like the secret)

jeez... if this is my fault, then I'm sooooo sorry. (As usual, I firmly believe that everything that's happening in this world is because of me... :) )

If by any chance that this is not because of me, then I have one word to the person who should bear responsibility for this: "why?"

Buzzkill

Here are sample chats I've had these past few days:

random friend: kamusta na? kelan ka uuwi?
me: nasa pinas ako ngayon.
random friend: ah?! talaga?! bakit di ka nagsasabi? anong okasyon? kelan ka
manlilibre? :)
me: na stroke kase dad ko.

did i just kill the moment or what?!

Don't worry, my dad's fine now. My entire family is ok now.

I just really don't want to blog or discuss about the details because I just end up teary-eyed and before I know it, I'd be bawling like a dying animal in one corner. Not a very good sight, let me tell you.

When I re-read this blog entry, I just want to be reminded that the storm has passed and that everything's going to be alright now.

I don't want to blog about sadness or anger anymore. I woundn't want to read something that takes me to a really bad place.

Anyway, to my dear friends, I hope we'll be meeting each other in much better circumstances next time. Thanks for all the prayers. Here's to hoping I won't be killing any more moments in the future... :)

ending on a high note...

I just realized that my previous entry was a bit of a downer...
(ending it with Rick Astley and all... )

So I'd like to leave today's entry on a high note...

We FINALLY found a nice flat! After several sleepless nights,"strait times", annoying agents, viewing sessions, bloody debates, and shameless haggling, we finally found a really good flat. A bit expensive, but I think it's well worth the price. It's partially furnished, so that means I'd have to buy some furniture for my room.

I'm kind of excited because I get to "design" my own room... I'm thinking of going for Japanese/minimalist style... in short, I'm cheap so I won't be buying that much stuff. Just a mattress (all because I need it), and probably a small table (oh, screw it, I'll just stack phone directories together, that should have the same effect) Then maybe I'll add a mug in one corner of the room. Just because it's the only "decorative" thing I have. It's kinda like prison... not that I've been there! (atleast not YET... :) )

now that's just sad...

... 13 words for the entire month of May?!?! sad, indeed.

I have done great injustice to this month. My deepest apologies May. I'll make it up to you next year! (let's see if I'll remember this one!?)

I've just been sooooooo busy lately. The issues I get seems endless... (OMG! when will this product run-out of issues?!?). Plus we've been flat-hunting, since our contract with our current flat is about to expire. We decided not to renew since our landlord decided to be McGreedy and increased our rent by 400 f*^&ng dollars!!! Uncle, that's crazy lah!?!

I can't even go to the gym anymore. (not that I miss Rick Astley...)

**sigh**

ironic, eh?

... that we don't work on Labour Day...

not that I'm complaining... :)

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Now that's odd!

The other day, I made a call to our MIS team to activate one of the network ports we'll be using for one of our test machines. I gave my name, which I pronounced as "nina" (no enye).

I have been using "nina", instead of "ninya", in the office because explaining spelling, pronunciation, and Philippine-Spanish history is just a pain in the ass most of the time.

Anyway, going back to my story...

A few minutes later, a tall Indian guy came by my cubicle to check if the port was working. I gave him access to our test machine and he did his routine check.

In the middle of his work, he engages in some small talk.

MIS guy: "you have quite an ODD name"(referring to "nina")
The bitch inside my head: WTF??? Odd??? Seriously now?!

I wasn't so sure how to react to that. Especially when I found out that his name was about 4 mouthful syllables consisting of a several consonants without vowels in between them. (ok, this might have been an exaggeration, but hell, his name is really "complicated"!)

But seriously, how odd is n-i-n-a? Even someone with dyslexia can spell it without difficulty!

I've never heard anyone complain about "Mr. Snuffleupagus", (and it's about time someone did!) and here comes some guy telling me a 4-letter word with letters harmoniously sitting next to each other is odd?!

Where's the justice in this world?! Where's the love?! And more importantly, where is Mr. Snuffleupagus?!

who you callin' odd 'ya bitch!

i like women...

... singers, that is.

I didn't even realize this until I was reviewing my playlist in this blog a while ago. None of the singers in my playlist are male!?!

Just to clarify, I'm not sexist! This was not done on purpose. It's not my fault women are better singers than men! (oopss... sexist slip there, sorry... hehehe...)

And in the spirit of coming clean, I confess: I love techno (ok, you may start casting your stones now). But just the slow type where the singer is like somewhat broken-hearted and stoned... don't judge me, it's very nice to listen to!

There! now it's out of my chest, I can sleep better now.

Cultural diversity is killing my humor-mojo

Not to toot my own horn, but I've been called "funny" quite a number of times (but maybe not as much as "crazy") by a number of people.

I just can't stand serious conversations. There will always be a voice or image in my head taunting me to say something self-deprecating or at least make me burst out in mad laughter with no apparent reason. (Much to the horror of anyone near me)

But living on this island has kept me from being my usual unhinged self.

If there is one thing I find difficult about living in a different country with so many different kinds of people, it is definitely not the weird food, nor the homesickness, nor the language, nor the weather. It's this constant need to explain the point of my joke! Jeez! Now I know what it feels like to be in Jas' big shoes (peace!)

Seriously... I have great punchline delivery (with matching props and other audio-visual effects!?!) and awesome comedic timing, and not to mention proper diction and grammar(well, maybe not that "proper", but definitely better than most of them here)... But alas! Everyone seems to be left with this gigantic question mark on their forehead each time I say something “funny” (or “offensive” depending on who you ask… :) )

Oh well, it could be worse. At least there isn't a full repertoire of duck jokes made in my honor! (peace uli! :) )
I'll be leaving you with this image, because apparently, ducks are f&^*-ing funnier than me!!! What's happening to the world?!?!

couch potatoes...

literally...

my obnoxious potato friends hanging-out on our couch on movie night...

There was a big fight on whether we should watch spiderman or starwars. And given that these are my friends, of course, they were very violent about it. I literally have to keep them from mashing each other. Not that I care, I just don't want to be the one to clean the mess afterwards!

After much debate, we ended up watching Transformers. Too bad my other potato friend, Optimash Prime, couldn't join us. He would have enjoyed that. But then again, it would have annoyed us since he likes making those stupid sounds when he "transforms" (we all seem to have this one retarded friend that does that, don't we?). And by transform, I mean removing his eyes, nose, and ears, then "rolls-out"... creepy bastard!

In case you're wondering, we had pop corn. I decided eating potato chips just felt wrong... (see, I can be sensitive too, you know! So I ate the chips when they left! :) )

I assume none of you have been living under a rock these past few years, so I'll spare everyone from describing what they're wearing. But if by any chance you really have been living under a rock, do write in, I'd love to know if you need a new housemate (rockmate?), as I need to hide away from these potatoes for a while... They're beginning to get on my nerves, that, and the fact that they have bad gas.

10 minutes after writing the above blog entry:

OMG... I seriously need a new hobby...

listen at your own risk...

Instead of making-up for lost sleep, here I am doing some "experiments" with adding a playlist in blogger...

So far I've managed to put the damn player here, but I have yet to resize it. What really ate a lot of time was looking for the songs I'd like to include. Unfortunately, not all of the songs I like are available, I've only managed to add 10. Hopefully, I'll be able to add some more later.

I know this should probably count as "piracy"... but in my defense, I have original copies of these songs... (yes, I can be such a self-righteous, i-dont-do-illegal-stuff-even-though-everybody-else-does-it asshole sometimes. Oh, how I hate those kind of people!!!... but as usual, I still love myself)

anyway, welcome to my (partial)playlist...

I don't want to take a bath anymore

No, I have no intentions of being a full-pledged "taong grasa" and neither is this an attempt to "blend well" with the "crowd". I just don't want to take a shower anymore after my workout in the gym.

It's not because of un-towelled(if this is even a word?!) women. It's because of Rick Astley. No, he did not magically appear in the locker room of the gym (now that's just way too creepy...)

The reason is his annoying 80's hit "together forever" that's haunting the gym halls at almost exactly the same time as my routine shower time. And shower time is the only time I don't have my earphones on! Is that bad timing or what?!?! And this tragedy happens almost daily at almost the same time!!!

I actually tried hitting the showers late, so I don't have to suffer ricky-boy's wrath. But then, yet another annoying song is booming out of the speakers... "I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky... I should be so lucky in love..."

(yes, I intentionally put a snippet of the lyrics, hoping that anyone reading this will be subconsciously singing it and be equally annoyed. Misery loves company)

And because I am pure evil:

too bad there isn't a roderick paulate version on youtube... that would have been diabolical! :)

Wala kang katulad, Manny...

I'm not exactly a Manny Pacquiao fan. Hell, I'm not even sure how to spell his name correctly?! And let's just not discuss his attempt at public office, that's just hitting below the belt (pun intended)

I mean, he's just like any other athlete, so I don't get all the hoopla he's getting from knocking people out... that's his job!

I am equally puzzled at how mesmerized a great majority of us are with his fights.
According to news reports, no crime is committed in the entire country while he's boxing!?! Wow, if that's the case, maybe he should fight every second of his life! Then maybe, I just might be a really good fan! :)

But then, something totally changed my mind. While watching ESPN, I was in awe...

It was a Nike commercial with Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant, and 2 other dudes who shall remain nameless to me, since I don't give a rat's ass who they are... and what-the... is that Manny??? What-the... it's him!!!

I don't know about you, but anyone who shares a TV spot with Maria Sharapova, has my absolute admiration... (Yes, I AM THIS SHALLOW, and if you are looking for substance in this post, you are in for a great disappointment. :) )

C'mon, it's Maria freakin' Sharapova, people... As one reporter so accurately puts it "She's as hot as Anna Kournikova, only she can actually play tennis!"

Here's the Nike commercial:

Oh, what was I talking about...yeah, Manny...
So to you Manny-boy, keep on punching people... (and while you're at it, consider changing your surname to something a little easier to spell... :) )

When penguins fly...

BBC's promo cum April fool's joke:

Personally, it would have been great if they used pigs instead of penguins. (no offense meant to penguin enthusiasts)

I'd just like to see the people who said "I'd [insert action here], when pigs fly!", keep their end of the bargain... :)

But I think BBC thought it would be a little too far-fetched to actually fool people. Pigs, afterall, don't have wings. But then again, we'll never now. As my friend once told me... "Never underestimate the power of human stupidity..."

So fly Happy Feet, fly!!!

Viva Italia! (that is, if you're an adulterous woman)

I just read a very interesting online news article from BBC UK.

If you're too lazy to click the link to read the full story, here's the short-and-sweet:
Italy's highest court has ruled that it is not illegal for a woman to lie to a police investigation if the reason is to cover-up her adulterous affair.

Huwaaaaat??? Yes, my jaw dropped as well. I thought it was an April fool's joke, but apparently, it wasn't.

Side note: BBC's April fools joke is a footage of flying penguins... Somehow, they thought it's easier to fool people with flying fat-so birds... but that's for another post. :)

Now, going back to adulterous bitches...

I'm not so sure how to react to this news. It's like saying it's ok to lie as long as you're covering up another lie... A really bad case of negation, perhaps?

According to the article, "lying about an affair was permitted because it damages the honor of the person among family and friends."

But here's the kicker:
"It is not yet clear whether the ruling might also apply to men who have secret mistresses. "

Sorry guys... double-standards worked against you on this one. But don't fret, at least you don't have to bleed on a monthly basis... (this is what I tell my brothers every time my parents favor me over everything... :) )

hhmmnn... I wonder if it's also ok to lie to your boss, if it's gonna save your ass ? If yes, then I'm soooo moving to Italy... (for that and the spaghetti!)

reality-check

I just watched "Music and Lyrics" tonight at HBO. And boy, was it a chick-flick or what?!

Not that I don't enjoy chick-flicks in general. It's good to have a few light-hearted movies once in a while. Thing is, those kind of films suffer from a very formulaic plot that is just lacking in common sense and logic. I mean, at one point you're like teary-eyed, smiling, and saying "awwww.... ", then a few seconds later, your evil mind shouts at you: "Who are you kidding? That never happens in real life!... or maybe it does, but then someone dies in the end..." (Yes, people, Debbie Downer lives inside my head!)

Drew Barrymore was as charming as always playing the vulnerable, and slightly "coo-koo" girl. Hugh Grant looked awful dancing, which I guess was the entire point why they made him dance in the first place. Oh, and the songs were outrageously cheezy! I guess it would appeal to me, if say, I was in high school and still drooling over a crush, while writing a poem under a tree shade. (soooo highschool!)

So basically, it's a so-so film. However, I did have a few laughs with most of Hugh Grant's lines, which again brings me back to reality: "nobody is THAT spontaneously witty!"

Sunday, March 23, 2008

I just remembered...

it's Easter today!

(and no, that's not the reason I'm feeling "hormonal" today... I'm not that much of a debbie downer!)

Happy Easter dear Christians! Happy egg hunting too!
And remember, easy on the eggs, they are high in cholesterol...

And another thing, when you see this creepy bunny, do me a favor, and kick him in the 'nads...
(for no reason whatsoever, other than the fact that he gives me the creeps...)

"so you want some eggs eh?"

creepy right?!?

I have a monthly drama quota

I really want to say something right now, but I can't seem to find the right words... Well, I actually know the words, just can't seem to say it...

Three simple words, and for the life of me, I am scared-shit of saying them.
I shouldn't be right?! I mean, I should be proud of it, yet here I am, still being all too weird about it.

sigh... wala lang, I just needed to blog something "dramatic" this month. hehehe... :)
maybe it's all this rain that's been pouring lately, maybe even the hormones, or maybe another case of the crazies...

**sigh**... why am a such a nutcase???

welcome the newest member of the family...

the-things-that-I-don't-intend-to-buy-but-hell!-I-buy-anyway family, that is...

the newest swipe: Wilson Fantom Ace badminton racket

My project group will be playing badminton every wednesday, (or atleast we will try!)
so I had no choice but to buy a new racket, since my ever-reliable Gosen badminton racket is back at home (and probably being torn into pieces by my 6-year-old nephew, as we speak)

I was actually looking for a Gosen badminton racket, that is the same, if not better than the one I have back at home, but apparently, it's not a very popular brand here... darn it!
Most rackets here are either Wilson or Yonex. Yonex, of course, I would never buy, since their rackets are not cheap (and I am... hehehe)

Tomorrow is our game # 1. Hopefully, this really turns out to be a weekly event, as I am in dire need of exercise! (And hopefully, my ass won't get kicked in the process...)

Apparently, there are scarier things in life…

If you’ve been reading this blog for quite some time, you know how I feel about women prancing around in towels… In a nutshell, I find it disturbing. (I’m not kidding). Don’t get me started on the many possible reasons… I just do!

Anyway, I applied for a gym membership here, not so long ago, as the current state of my health is equally disturbing. (I feel I’m losing muscle mass and gaining weight at the same time… not a very good combination.)

Going back…Me hitting the gym gives you a pretty good idea what this post is about… the ever scary: “women in towels…” But what I’ve learned today is that, apparently, there are far more scary things in life… Women WITHOUT towels!!!

[blur the screen and insert flashback music…]
I was fixing my stuff in the locker. I was crouching since I chose the lower locker (because I’m a freakin’ midget!) As I closed the door and was about to stand… there IT was...

“Well, hello there, another woman’s hoo-ha, how do you do?”

-----

Note to self, choose the corner-most locker next time.

ping

I'm alive.
(fortunately and unfortunately, depending on who you ask...)

It's just that these past few days, I'm either busy or too unmotivated to write something here. Actually, until now, I still don't feel like writing.... so I'll stop now...

It's the bitter one who wrote it! go get her!!!

I just realized how bitter my post-valentine entry was... Yes, I re-read my old entries... I'm THAT vain. And sometimes I really do surprise myself... I'm guessing it's a multiple personality-related issue...
"Huh? I wrote that?! Ok... raise your hand people, which personality did this?!?"

I'm sure a lot of you will understand. We all have our internal battles... Mine's just a bit more complicated... think cage-fighting, but instead of two people, get around 14, all having chainsaws.

Anyway, back to the bitter blog post...
My apologies to all the couples out there who think what they have right now is the real deal. The world needs people like you. You need to replenish the world's man-resource. Just please don't make stupid babies, ok? Lord knows we've got a lot of those already!

As for me, I don't want to have another lifeform come out of me... Aside from the yuck factor of birth-giving, the idea of being responsible for another living thing scares the shit out of me. geez, I can't even do my laundry on time!?!

this is why I know I'll end up old and broke (and chopped-up) someday...

... I have no f-ing self-control when it comes to buying stuff...

I wasn't even planning to buy anything from that particular mall, but somehow, my feet found it's way to the CD shop, my lips managed to ask the saleslady if they have a CD of Rachael Yamagata, and my hand slid it's way to my pocket to get money... and guess what my eyes did... it started looking for Joni Mitchell CDs, which gives you a pretty good idea what the hands did next...(no, i'm not THAT dirty, get your mind out of the gutter!)

My body is conspiring against me, I tell you! ... those bastards!!!

"the goods" : Rachael Yamagata's Happenstance, Joni Mitchell's Hits and Blue

Not that I don't want those CDs... in fact, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them... (and I'm sure my ears are clapping in agreement) I would just like to be in control, not her, err, I mean, me, err... ok now I'm confused!

**finger presses play, while the other hand punches me in the face...**

It's a daily battle, I tell you... a classic example of a no-win situation...

---shameless promotion & public service announcement---

do buy Rachael Yamagata's CD... and of course Joni Mitchell's too... (or atleast support your favorite artists and buy their albums! stop piracy!!! --> kala mo di pirata dati eh no?!?)

a word from our sponsors...

sa lahat po ng nag-text, tumawag, nag-email, nag-message/comment sa friendster, nag send ng e-card, nagpadala ng messenger-dove, nagawa ng smoke message, nag-bat-sign, at kung anu-ano pang means of communication to greet me on my birthday...
maraming, maraming salamat po...

congratulations, Valentine's day is over.

I'd like to congratulate all these people for making Valentine's yet another holiday worth looking forward to each year :

1. To all the people who sent THEMSELVES flowers and gifts for Valentine's day, congratulations, you have fooled quite a number of people into thinking someone actually cares for you.

2. To all the people who celebrated this Valentine's day with their significant other, congratulations, you have contributed well to the country's GDP. Keep on spending, that's the best way to re-assure your other half that you won't leave them next year...YET :)

3. To all flowershop owners, congratulations, you are the biggest winners of this shananigan of a day. I hope you sleep better every night knowing you've castrated several plants and sold their hoo-ha's in an outrageously expensive price.

4. To all the bitter cynical bitches/man-whores out there, congratulations, WE have survived yet another day of carnage. Don't worry, these people will break-up soon... We have statistics on our side! They will either join us or the people in #1 soon enough. (aren't we bitter or what?!)

5. To all the people who didn't care at all, don't worry, I'm betting you'll be one of us next year. Recruitment starts on Feb 15. :)

The Ghosts of Friendship Past and Friendship Present

Isn’t it a scary thought, knowing your “old” friends will be meeting your “new” friends?
where “new” = office friends
And “old” = college friends

The idea of them swapping notes about your “sketchy past” and your “manic present”… Oh, I don’t even know how to begin describing the horror.

Fine… it may seem narcissistic of me to think that my friends would even talk about me, but I have this gut-wrenching feeling that conversations like “has she always been this psychotic?” will be there around the corner. (ok, I AM narcissistic… and paranoid)

Being that I am not there to explain myself (and be overly defensive), I have this to say:

To my new friends, I was young and stupid (and needed the money)
Whatever you hear from my old friends, don’t believe them, they’re crazy people…

To my old friends, people change (not necessarily for the better), I’m now a little older but still a little stupid (and still in need of money)
Whatever you hear from my new friends, don’t believe them, they’re crazy people…

Now if only I could figure out a way for them not to read each other’s messages above…
(See how stupid still???)

If you think I’m being paranoid now, try imagining me if I’d find out any of them would be meeting my high school friends!?! O.M.G.!

being kicked-out of the bracket...

I just answered a survey today. One of the questions was something like this:
How old are you?:
-> 18 and below
-> 19 - 24
-> 25 - 30
-> 31 - 36
.... so on....

*gasp!* O.M.G.! in a few days time, I'll be part of the older 20's bracket!!! I'm with the 30-ish people?!?! O.M.G.!!! (I make it sound like it's a disease, don't I? no offense OLDIES :) ... hehehe)

But seriously?! man! I'm THAT old?!?! I'm not complaining about wringkles and other stuff that comes with aging, it's just that I don't feel I'm that old-old...

I mean, should I have done something along the way before I reached this age? 25 years on earth and what have I done? (aside from consuming oxygen and reeking havoc in the universe)

Am I supposed to be wiser? because I'm not feeling it. I'm sooooooo immature for my age!

Survey questions should go something like "how old do you THINK you are?" and we all know how I should answer that... "somewhere between 9 and 12" (probably even 8 when I'm really cranky).

O.M.G.!
I'M OLD!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..............

*a moment of silence*

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...............

I'm in love...

with this song, that is... (got you thinking there for a second, e? hehehe...)

This song makes me want to be in love... For a person who's allergic to love, that's saying alot about this song!

hhmmmnnn... there's just something about women with powerful and husky voices that makes a song spine-chilling...

be be your love
by Rachael Yamagata

lyrics:
If I could take you away
Pretend I was queen
What would you say
Would you think I'm unreal
'Cause everybody's got their way I should feel

Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real
Want to be your everything

Everything...

Everything's falling, and I am included in that
Oh, how I try to be just okay
Yeah, but all I ever really wanted
Was a little piece of you

And everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real

Everything will be alright
If you just stay the night
Please, sir, don't you walk away, don't you walk away, don't you walk away
Please, sir, don't you walk away, don't you walk away, don't you walk away

And everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real

And everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real

I want to be your love, love, love

Escape from Monotony

After a few months of hard work, me, my brother, and his gf decided to have a few days off from the often monotonous life in Singapore. We took a whole day leave last friday so we can hop on a ferry going to Bintan Island, Indonesia, where the waves can cause concusions, the wind never stops blowing, and the hammocks are so damn irresistable!

view of Bintan from the ferry

Mayang Sari beach resort where we stayed for 3days and 2nights

View of the beach from the reception area

Our cottage

Being a usual tourist spot, the prices of items are really aimed at tourists... Rich tourists, that is. The currency they use is Singapore dollars, not Indonesian Rupiahs... Weird e? The prices of things are the same as that in SG, if not more, which is crazy. I mean, this is Indonesia! It's supposed to be much much cheaper right?!

Bintan is outrageously close to SG, so it has a lot of visitors from there, mostly the Caucasian expats who earn 3x the normal wage. Man, if I had their salary, I'd probably be here every week too!

And to add to the list of things i've done for the first time, I braved the waters and went on body-boarding. Here's my fantastically gay body-board which I bought a few days back.

The waves were amazingly strong! How strong you say? It was able to push me around with not much effort! Go figure!

no f-ing clue who these people are...

But my favorite part of the Bintan trip, I must say, is definitely this...

The best invention known to man, after the computer... the seaside hammock

Nothing like the sound of the ocean, the cool breeze, and the mild swinging of the coconut leaves while lying peacefully on a tree-shaded hammock thinking of absolutely nothing. Ah! the life!

Sidenote: this entry was written while I was lying on this particular hammock...
